Soli Deo Gloria

My own works can never merit

what the Love of God has won.

Grace alone! I can inherit

righteousness through Christ the Son.

Scripture’s word not human fables

points salvation, warns my soul.

God’s own word alone enables,

proves my sin, and makes me whole.

I now grasp the mighty pardon

God in Christ extends to me.

Faith alone can cleanse not harden

all my sins eternally

Refrain

Here I stand can do no other, all God’s truth through grace is clear.

By the love of Christ my brother, I no longer live in fear.

Human priests can never proffer

what my seated Lord has done.

Christ alone presents the offer

access to God’s righteous throne.

No creation earns the glory.

God created mercy’s plan,

paid the price, and wrote the story—

praise the King who rescued man!

Refrain

Here I stand can do no other, all God’s truth through grace is clear

By the love of Christ my brother, I no longer live in fear.

  1. Ethan,

I knew you had written a hymn describing the 5 Solas of the Reformation. I came to this website not even knowing if I had the right Ethan Talbert. But this title looked like the hymn I was looking for. Glad to have found it. And I enjoyed some of your other writings. Hope you’re doing well lately.
