If you had heard
The Lord that day
His words chased all the scribes away,
then you would know
the scriptures say
that rocks and trees would sing His way.
If you had seen
the learned priest
schooled in scripture by the least
of little words,
then you would feast,
on truth that’s life, and light increased.
If you had been
with Jesus when
they sought to test His knowledge then
went dumb and mute,
you’d see again,
He came from heaven, not from men.
But you have heard.
You’ve seen and read
the truth as sure as it was said.
And now you stand
before the spread
and choose to starve or eat the bread.
“And he answered and said, I tell you that, if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out.” ~ Luke 19:40
“Have you not read how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” ~ Matt. 22:26-27
He replied, “I will also ask you a question. Tell me: John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin?”
They answered, “We don’t know where it was from.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.” ~ Luke 20: 3,7-8
“And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place.” ~ 2 Peter 1:19
