These sculptures of renown,

bewitching works of art

that catch the sun and shine—

each one of them is mine. 

I cannot trust my heart 

to tear these idols down. 

But He who wields the Word

has set His heart to war.

He smashes myths I trust

and beats the gods to dust 

until I craft no more—

for He would be my Lord.
